The Genie Archives

The Ark-La-Tex Genealogical Association has scanned all the old copies of The Genie. Some things to note:

The scanned copies will only be as good as the original. Some are fairly faint and may have blotches and other blemishes on the page.
The copies of The Genie and Indexes were scanned as searchable documents. You can open them and browse OR you can search by clicking within the search box and typing in a name. If you do not see a search box, press CONTROL F to search. Note: if you do not type the name exactly the way it was typed in The Genie, it will not be found. However, there are some limitations with the search function within the scanned copies. This is explained fully in the Index Information listed below.
There is an Index for each year of The Genie. But there are three types of indexes. Before trying to find information, it might be helpful to first look at the "Index Information" below.
Beginning in 2014 we went electronic. There is no longer a name index for these files. But each file has a Table of Contents and each Table of Contents is linked to the article. You can just click on the Title of each article to go to it. You can also search each Genie (starting in 2014) using "Control Find"
The Genie is indexed in the Periodical Source Index (PERSI). If you search PERSI and find a Year/Vol./No. you can go directly to the Vol./No. to look at the information.
Two books of Ancestral Charts have also been scanned. One was created in 1970 and another in 1984.
