Date Speaker Program

We strive to offer educational programs that are genealogical or historically oriented. Frequently, in addition to our monthly featured program, we provide a short (usually 15-20 minutes) 'hornbook' session by an Education Committee member that focuses on a genealogy research topic, plus a 'Bits and Pieces' segment that details interesting genealogy news, tips, and research sources.
January 8 Glenn Moore, Genealogy Researcher “Understanding Your DNA Test Results”.

Members are encouraged to bring their laptop or mobile device to access their DNA test results.

Hornbook session presented by Leonard Gresens: "Genealogy Goals for 2022"

Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases, SML has temporarily suspended the use of their library meeting rooms. This meeting is being moved to the Bossier History Center, 2206 Beckett St, Bossier City. The meeting will also be via Zoom.

Hornbook session presented by Sonja Webb: "Census Enumeration District Maps"

Note: This meeting will take place at the Bossier History Center, adjacent to the Bossier Central Library, 2206 Beckett Street, Bossier City. Meeting will also be via Zoom.
March 12 Joe Slattery, Librarian "Pre-Civil War Structures Existing in Caddo Parish” This presentation identifies some 15 different buildings and homes which were built before 1861, and are still standing in Caddo Parish.

Note: Monthly meetings are held on the second Saturday of the month from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Broadmoor Branch Library, 1212 Captain Shreve Drive. Shreveport, Louisiana. (One block east of East Kings Hwy/Reily Ln)
