Date | Speaker | Program We strive to offer educational programs that are genealogical or historically oriented. Frequently, in addition to our monthly featured program, we provide a short (usually 15-20 minutes) 'hornbook' session by an Education Committee member that focuses on a genealogy research topic, plus a 'Bits and Pieces' segment that details interesting genealogy news, tips, and research sources. |

See Link to his presentation: “An Introduction to the Territorial and early Federal and State Records Held by the Louisiana Office of State Lands” Many settlers of different national backgrounds made homes in present-day Louisiana before and after statehood. While some records were created before, at, or soon after a first settlement, many others were triggered years or decades later. Research of these earliest ancestors should not be considered reasonably exhaustive without consulting the historical documents housed in Louisiana’s Office of State Lands. This module discusses the types of records held and how to navigate them, with selected examples. “Brick Wall Solutions – Open Discussion” Note: This meeting will take place at the Bossier History Center, adjacent to the Bossier Central Library, 2206 Beckett Street, Bossier City.
