Date Speaker Program

We strive to offer educational programs that are genealogical or historically oriented. Frequently, in addition to our monthly featured program, we provide a short (usually 15-20 minutes) 'hornbook' session by an Education Committee member that focuses on a genealogy research topic, plus a 'Bits and Pieces' segment that details interesting genealogy news, tips, and research sources.

March 14 Ellen T. Kyle, MSN, Healthcare Operations Consultant, Genealogy Researcher How Our Genetic Heritage Makes Sugar a Poison for Us" (This is a presentation about how our genetic heritage puts us at risk for obesity, heart disease, and high blood pressure. Ms. Kyle will suggest ways to overcome this heritage and return to healthy living like the people of Dan Buettner's Blue Zones...thus living longer and better.)

Sept. 18 SML Genealogy Dept Broadmoor Branch Genealogy 'Lock-in'. The 'Genealogy Lock-in' will occur from 6 to 9 PM for those interested in genealogy research. Included will be a class in the Tech Center on vital records (Call 219-3468 to register for this class). The 'lock-in' is for all levels of researchers from beginners to advanced.
